5 South Korea Movies You Must Watch!

I'm not a big fan of Korea, or K-pop, but we must admit that South Korea has rapidly growing from economics to entertainment world, especially music and cinema, for this past few years, while 10 years ago, not so may people know about South Korea. and now, Korean "Boom" is like everywhere, from music, drama, products, movies, even make up look!



Now, South Korea cinema can be count as Asian Hollywood, for their consistency bringing a nice script and strong characters, with their plot development so viewers is having difficulty to guess the ending.
So... This, my TOP 5 South Korea movies you must watch!

1. OLDBOY (2003)

An average man is kidnapped and imprisoned in a shabby cell for 15 years without explanation. He then is released, equipped with money, a cellphone and expensive clothes. As he strives to explain his imprisonment and get his revenge, Oh Dae-Su soon finds out that his kidnapper has a greater plan for him and is set onto a path of pain and suffering in an attempt to uncover the motive of his mysterious tormentor. -IMDB

One of the best plot for Korean movies, with a nice twist! The original thriller, crime movies, who makes viewers trying to guess the ending or the reason why Oh Dae-su kidnapped for 15 years. Eventough, the genre it self is thriller crime, but still there's a comedy scene from the Oh Dae-su's clumsiness. I can't say more about this movie, because it will ruin your curiosity of the plot. JUST WATCH!

2. My Sassy Girl (2001)

Based on a series of true stories posted by Ho-sik Kim on the Internet describing his relationship with his girlfriend. These were later transformed into a best-selling book and the movie follows the book closely. It describes the meeting of Kyun-woo (Cha Taehyun) and an unnamed girl. Kyun-woo is shamed into assisting the girl because the other passengers mistakenly think she is his girlfriend. Once he helps her, Kyun-woo develops a deep sense of responsibility for her which enables him to tolerate (somehow) the girl's abuses. - IMDB

One of the best romance comedy drama movie ever! The first time i watched My Sassy Girl when i was on 2nd years of elementary school. And i still remember every epic scene in this film. My Sassy Girl, is like a legend for Korean romance comedy drama. After the successful of My Sassy Girl, there's so many Korean Comedy Drama Romance, who trying to be success as My Sassy Girl, ex: windstruck, My Girl & I, Ba;Bo etc.

3. The Man from Nowhere (2010)

A quiet pawnshop keeper - Cha Tae-Sik (Wo Bin) with a violent past takes on a drug- and organ trafficking ring in hope of saving the child who is his only friend, So-mi (Sae-ron Kim), who lives nearby. So-mi's mother, Hyo-jeong smuggles drugs from a drug trafficking organization and entrusts Tae-shik with the product, without letting him know. The traffickers find out about her smuggling and kidnap both Hyo-jeong and So-mi. The gang promises to release them if Tae-shik makes a delivery for them, however it actually is a larger plot to eliminate a rival drug ring leader. When Hyo-jeon's disemboweled body is discovered, Tae-shik realizes that So-mi's life may also be in danger. Tae-shik becomes enraged at the prospect that So-mi may already be dead and prepares for a battle, putting his own life at risk. - IMDB

At first, i didn't expect much about this movie. but, because the great development of the plot makes me enjoy the movie, eventough i'm not a big fan for thriller movie. The plot it self is original, and makes the viewers curious with the main character, villain and the ending.

4. Hello Ghost (2010)

Sang Man (Cha Tae-hyun) feels his life completely useless. He doesn't have any attention of people nearby and dear to him, so he decided to commit suicide and end his life. However, he's always fails in every action of his suicide. In fact, after trying to commit suicide, he can see a ghosts. There are four ghosts who constantly disrupt him. Sang Man really feel disturbed by the presence of this ghosts, because he wants to try to commit suicide again, but the ghost always disrupt him. So, Sang Man has an agreement with the ghost, that he would allow his body controlled by the ghosts to finish their 'business', however, if all the business they had finished the ghosts must go away.

One of my Favorite! this movie, will make you a burst into laughter for almost entire movie, and a sadness in just one scene.

5. Speedy Scandal (2008)


What happens if handsome and cool, radio announcer at his 30s, had to change his life 360 degrees because of the arrival of a girl who claimed to be his daughter and bringing small child who also claimed to be his grandson.

Nam Hyun Soo (Cha Tae-Hyun) is a radio announcer, who have a vent session with the audience. until one day there's a mysterious woman who vent about how she struggles in search for her biological father and also grandfather for her son, so finally Hyun Soo advised her to keep trying for searching her father. Then, when Hyeon-soo was preparing to go out with a his girlfriend, suddenly Hwang Jeong Nam (Park Bo-young) and also Hwang Ki Dong (Hwang Seok-hyeon) recognized Jeong nam as her son, came to Hyeon-soo's apartement, and claims to be his daughter and Hwang Ki Dong as Hyun Soo's grandson.

Speedy Scandal, included in comedy drama musical category Movie. Speedy Scandal is, a nice movie you can watch with your family, because it's funny, have a nice story and also have a nice soundtrack.
